Corey T. L. Smith

Corey Smith is an associate focusing primarily on litigation involving family law, estates, trusts, and other civil matters.

 Corey graduated magna cum laude from the Charleston School of Law. During law school, he served as a Legal Research, Analysis and Writing Teaching Fellow. He also worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Kristin Balding Gutting and was a member of the Tax Moot Court team. He received CALI® Awards for Legal Research and Writing, Civil Tax Procedure and Litigation Seminar, and Law Practice Management. He was a co-author of "Unclean Hands: Residential Real Estate Loan Modifications in South Carolina and the Unauthorized Practice of Law." http://equityiswell.wordpress.com (Oct. 2, 2012) Following law school, Corey earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

 Corey was raised in Upstate New York until his middle school years when his family moved to Clemson, South Carolina. He attended Oconee Christian Academy and Clemson University where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Marketing. He was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, the Golden Key International Honor Society, and the Mu Kappa Tau Marketing Honor Society. Prior to attending law school. Corey worked as a sales coach for UPS in Greenville, South Carolina.

Corey has volunteered his time for numerous charitable and service organizations, including working as a volunteer for Charleston Bono Legal Services, Inc., a volunteer Guardian ad Litem in the Charleston County Guardian Ad Litem Program, a volunteer tax preparer for the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program, and an assistant middle/high school boys basketball coach. He and his wife Ashley, also a Clemson graduate, live in Charleston with their dog Izzy and cat Lucky. When he is not working, Corey enjoys singing, playing the guitar and harmonica, church, softball, basketball, college and professional sports, fishing, crabbing and traveling.
